Terms and Eligibility Requirements

A) College/University Scholarships

Cien Amigos Education Fund–IME Becas will award scholarships in the amount of $2,000 dollars each for full-time enrollment for the 2024/2025 academic year. In order to be eligible to apply for the scholarship you must:

1. Be a full-time college/university undergraduate student or a high school graduate.
2. Have a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.5 or higher. (weighted/cumulative)
3. Comply with the residence requirement, within the Northern California eligible counties*, based on one of the following:

a. The applicant must live within one of the eligible counties, OR
b. The university/college attended must be located within the eligible counties, OR
c. The applicant’s parents must live in one of the eligible counties.

4. Provide a copy of the following documents:

a. For undergraduate college/university students an unofficial transcript. For high school graduates a high school transcript.
b. For high school graduates a letter of acceptance from a college/university.
c. Provide evidence of compliance with the residence requirement if the university/college attended is located outside of the eligible counties such as an utility bill.
d. Provide a 500-word maximum essay. The essay should describe your personal situation, the reasons you are pursuing higher education, and the ways in which you plan to use your education for the benefit of your community. Please include any past or current community involvement. (The use of AI technology is prohibited and cannot be used for any part of the application, especially the essay. If it is determined that AI technology was used, the essay and application will be disqualified.)
e. Provide a written or recorded testimony on what it means to you, your family or community to receive a scholarship funded by Mexico.

AB 540 students are encouraged to apply.
Application Instructions

1. Applications for the scholarships will be online only.
2. Applications will be open on April 10, 2024
3. The application deadline will be June 9, 2024, at 11.59 pm
4. All supporting documents are to be scanned by each applicant and uploaded to the application website, in a PDF or JPEG format.
5. All incomplete applications will be discarded (make sure you upload every document needed – Unofficial transcript, proof of residence, essay).

List of the recipients will be released on: TBA, on this website. They will also be notified by e-mail by the Cien Amigos–IME Scholarship Committee.

Note: Application to this scholarship program does not guarantee the award of a scholarship. Applicants will be screened according to eligibility and availability of funds.

* Eligible counties: Alpine, Amador, Butte, Calaveras, Colusa, El Dorado, Glenn, Lassen, Modoc, Mono, Nevada, Placer, Plumas, Sacramento, San Joaquín, Shasta, Sierra, Siskiyou, Solano, Stanislaus, Sutter, Tehama, Tuolumne, Yolo and Yuba.
