Job Description

Airplane Flight Instructor (Title 32) Position

This is an Air National Guard Title 32 excepted service position. The National Guard position is for an Airplane Flight Instructor (Title 32), Air Position Description Number NGD2045P01 and is part of the TN 118th Wing, Air National Guard. This vacancy is not eligible for membership to a labor organization. Responsibilities include administering combat flight training to military aircrews, instructing and evaluating pilots through a broad training spectrum, performing pilot duties, and assessing instructors, pilots, sensor operators, and mission coordinators. The incumbent maintains knowledge of airplane systems and procedures under normal, instrument, and emergency conditions. They serve as the Air Operations Officer's representative and may perform work in various Air Operations program support functional areas. The position requires experience in piloting and instructing pilot skills in one or more of the main-frame/military aircraft, reading and applying mission tasks, intelligence reports, and weather information, and supervising mission planning and crew member training. The candidate must have at least two years of experience in aviation programs, including aviation unit quality control management programs, flying, explosive, and ground safety programs. The candidate must also have experience in planning and preparing for missions, flying operations, and coordinating with appropriate agencies to ensure compliance with safety regulations. The position requires experience in various missions, traditional "stick and rudder" type controls, aircraft instrumentation, visual flight-rule type flying, simulated combat and non-combat missions, and planning, scheduling, and conducting training flights. The candidate must have experience in applying operational directives, training directives, instructions, and special instructions of National Guard Bureau, United States Army or United States Air Force, and gaining commands. The candidate must also have experience in working independently to plan and perform work assignments, completing safe and efficient mission accomplishments through the use of Operational Risk Management, and performing aviation duties such as cancelling flying activities, diverting aircraft, dictating mission requirements, approving specific activities, coordinating for airport or airspace utilization with FAA, or directing emergency actions that involved unit support agencies. The candidate must have experience in using applicable Army aviation regulations, policies, requirements and standards, skills and practices; and, the application of instructional techniques to the training of other pilots in the Army National Guard flying facilities. The candidate must also have experience in conducting particular missions and flying specific main-frame aircraft in combat tactics, flying in mountainous terrain, performing tactical remote site evaluations, performing landings on remote sites, providing ground and flight training, and conducting night-vision operations or instructions. The candidate must have experience in standardization and evaluation programs, written ground examinations, emergency procedures, and aircrew performance standards in accordance with applicable directives and Federal Aviation Administration certification requirements. The candidate must also have experience in reviewing and complying with applicable service flight publications and directives for accuracy and currency. The candidate must have experience on weaponry and combat or non-combat tactics for applicable military aircraft. The candidate must also have experience with wartime and peacetime contingency plans and supplements used for unit mobilizations, deployments, strange field operations, or troop missions and re-deployments. Education requirement includes FAA Certification or equivalent (1059) Army An undergraduate degree from an accredited college/university is mandatory. Must have Federal Aviation Administration certifications awarded from accredited civilian aviation programs. OR must have aviation certifications from accredited military aviation schools. You must provide transcripts or other documentation to support your Educational claims. To receive credit for Education, you must provide documentation of proof that you meet the Education requirements for this position.
