Our discovery and translational science teams aim to advance next-generation cellular therapies that harness the power of the immune system to improve patient outcomes. Position Summary The Engineered Cell Therapy Discovery team has an opening for a highly motivated Associate Scientist dedicated to discovery and development of novel engineered CAR T and eTCR T cell therapeutics for the treatment of cancer and other chronic diseases. The successful candidate will contribute to conceptual design and functional testing of advanced circuits engineered into CAR T cells and generate robust, reproducible datasets to drive immune cell engineering projects. This role interfaces with senior researchers to execute studies, analyze data and communicate results. This position is ideal for an innovative scientist who leads with data to drive decisions for drug discovery. Position Responsibilities Contributes to the development of in vitro assays for target validation and functional modulation of novel targets Designs and develops complex in vitro models to study mechanism of action and pharmacology of engineered T cells Working knowledge of bioinformatics with the ability to analyze and interpret transcriptomic/proteomic data for target identification Supports the conceptual design and functional testing of CARs and/or advanced logic circuits engineered into CAR T cells. Participates in go/no-go decision-making processes to drive development of cutting-edge cell therapies. Develops and optimizes novel assays to quantitatively assess the biological and functional properties of CARs and novel circuits built into engineered T cells. Ensures robustness and reproducibility of these assays to support key project milestones. Generation, expansion, characterization, and cryopreservation of CAR T cells and eTCR T cells. Performs phenotypic and functional analysis of CAR T cells using flow cytometry, IncuCyte, and other relevant methods. Analyzes data to provide insights into performance, quality, and potential of engineered T cells. Active participation in troubleshooting and continuous improvement initiatives related to new approaches/technologies. Collaborates effectively with cross-functional teams. Communicates findings clearly to stakeholders at all levels. Maintains electronic notebooks to support project milestones and regulatory filings. Qualifications Basic Qualifications Bachelor's Degree 2+ years of industry and/or academic experience Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's Degree and 2+ years of industry experience Strong quantitative and analytical abilities to provide insights into engineered T cell performance Excellent organizational skills for thorough documentation of experiments across multiple projects. Maintains electronic notebooks rigorously. Ability to independently recognize potential problems and recommend/develop appropriate solutions Strong communication skills for working with cross-functional teams Experience developing and using quantitative in vitro assays to drive decision-making, especially in drug development Proficient in MSD, IncuCyte-based assays, multi-parameter flow cytometry, T cell activation assays, and T cell proliferation analysis Experience with molecular biology, protein function/folding, cell signaling, high throughput screening, automation, CRISPR gene editing, and/or imaging technologies Skilled in generating, expanding, characterizing, and cryopreserving CAR T and eTCR T cells Ability to work productively as both a team member and an individual contributor Developed knowledge of principles and concepts of biological sciences, immunology, bioengineering, or related discipline Compensation Overview Seattle - WA: $92,900 - $112,569. The starting compensation range is listed for a full-time employee (FTE). Additional incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility) may be available.
