About the Role
This is a 1099 contractor position for 6-12 months with potential for ongoing renewal. This role is perfect for a developer who enjoys solving complex problems, working with financial data, and has a passion for building robust, high-performance applications.
Responsibilities
• Design, develop, and maintain financial calculation engines and reporting systems
• Refactor and modernize legacy monolith code into well-architected domain-driven services
• Transform and analyze large financial datasets using Laravel Collections: map/reduce, filter, etc.
• Create and optimize data visualization features using Chart.js
• Update and maintain SPAs using Vue.js
• Deploy and maintain Laravel applications with modern authentication (JWT/OAuth)
• Root out older PHP 7.2 code and migrate to 8.3
Technical Requirements
• 3-5+ years of PHP/Laravel development experience
• Strong experience with data mapping, some experience with financial calculations
• Familiarity with typing JSON structures, DTOs
• Experience with Filament and/or Livewire
• Experience with VueJS and Pinia
• Experience with JIRA and Agile development methodologies
Nice-to-Have
• Experience in the US financial services or wealth management industry
• Familiarity with PHPStan, PHPinsights, and other quality tools
• Knowledge of domain-driven design principles
• Familiarity with containerization and cloud platforms
• Familiarity with Rust for performance-critical components is a plus
