Under direct supervision, receives day-to-day guidance and assignments from the Chief Stationary Engineer at the Murray Developmental Center. Performs skilled journey level carpentry work in the construction, maintenance, repair or alteration at the Murray Developmental Center and other facilities within the Central and Southern Regions on an as needed basis. Works in the carpentry shop; performs cabinet work, operations and maintains hand tools and equipment. Determines supplies needed to perform carpentry and/or cabinet work; lifts equipment/materials weighing up to 75 pounds independently and up to 100 pounds with assistance in the performance of duties. Adheres to applicable Illinois Department of Public Health, Life Safety Codes and Occupational Safety and Health Administrations. Travels in performance of job duties.
