The 32BJ Training Fund is seeking qualified candidates for part-time English as a Second Language instructors for in-person classes taught in Bronx, New York. SEIU 32BJ is a service union that represents cleaners, maintenance workers, service staff, and security officers in the New York City area and nine other states on the East Coast. Our mission is to educate every member so that they have the tools they need to meet the challenges of a changing industry. Who we’re looking for Creative, dynamic teachers with good interpersonal skills who enjoy working in diverse linguistic and cultural settings. Teachers looking to empower workers through industry skills education. Requirements Proof of COVID vaccination and booster required. See below for further information. Responsibilities Plan, adapt, and implement lesson plans aligned to the program curriculum and incorporate the provided educational materials. Teach English conversation skills through a student-centered teaching approach. Maintain and submit records of attendance. Maintain ongoing communication with supervisor. Participate in relevant professional development activities, as available. Qualifications MA in TESOL, TESL, TEFL, or CELTA Minimum of 4 years teaching experience Proficient English speakers with strong knowledge of English and language use. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with students from a variety of linguistic and cultural backgrounds. Ability to use digital platforms to instruct, communicate, and record program data. COVID-19 Considerations Record of completed COVID-19 vaccine or confirmed medical/religious exemption required. Compliance with current COVID-19 protocols of the organization. Classes Offered Saturdays, 9:00 am – 1:00 pm, starting immediately through spring 2026. Opportunities to substitute at other locations possible.
