A Phlebotomist at Labcorp is responsible for performing skilled blood specimen collections from patients of all ages, ensuring accurate labeling and preparation of samples for laboratory testing. The role includes providing excellent customer service, maintaining patient records, and supporting administrative tasks related to specimen processing. We are currently seeking a Phlebotomist to work at U Miami. In this role, you will provide exceptional customer service, perform skilled specimen collections, and be the face of the company. In addition, you will be provided opportunities for continuous growth within the organization.

PST’s may be eligible for participation in the PST Incentive Plan, which pays a quarterly bonus based on performance metrics.

Work Schedule : Monday to Friday 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM with rotating Saturdays and availability to cover other shifts as needed. Sunday off.

Job Responsibilities:

• Perform blood collections by venipuncture and capillary techniques for all age groups
• Collect specimens for drug screens, paternity tests, alcohol tests, etc.
• Perform data entry of patient information in an accurate and timely manner
• Process billing information and collect payments when required
• Prepare all collected specimens for testing and analysis
• Maintain patient and specimen information logs
• Provide superior customer service to all patients
• Administrative and clerical duties as necessary
• Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing
• Unpack and route specimens to their respective staging areas
• Accurately identify and label specimens 
• Pack and ship specimens to proper testing facilities 
• Meet department activity and production goals
• Properly prepare and store excess specimen samples 
• Data entry of patient information in an accurate and timely manner 
• Resolve and document any problem specimens.

Job Requirements:

In order to ensure the safety of our patients, this position requires as part of the post-offer onboarding process, successful completion of medical surveillance testing which includes: TB testing; proof of immunity or vaccination for Hepatitis B, Varicella, and MMR; and color blind deficiency testing (if required by position). • High school diploma or equivalent
• Reliable transportation and clean driving record where applicable
• Phlebotomy certification from an accredited agency is preferred
• Previous experience as a phlebotomist
• Proven track record in providing exceptional customer service
• Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
• Ability to work independently or in a team environment
• Comfortable working under minimal supervision
• Flexibility to work overtime as needed
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
