Plastic Surgery - Physician Opportunity

We are seeking a Microsurgery-trained Plastic Surgeon to become part of the academic faculty at our institution, focusing on advanced microsurgical reconstruction techniques, including oncologic, extremity, and lymphatic reconstruction. The role encompasses clinical responsibilities, teaching residents and fellows, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and engaging in both clinical and basic science research. This position is situated within tertiary care centers in our health system, offering avenues for academic growth and participation in global surgical initiatives.

The Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at our academic institution is looking for a full-time Microsurgery-trained Plastic Surgeon to join its faculty. The ideal candidate will possess a strong passion and expertise in microsurgical reconstruction, particularly in oncologic, complex extremity, and lymphatic reconstruction.

This role presents an exciting chance to be part of a developing academic practice that prioritizes excellence in clinical care, education for residents and fellows, and impactful scholarship. Clinical duties will involve advanced microsurgical reconstruction utilizing free tissue transfer techniques to address a wide range of reconstructive needs. Additionally, the position includes opportunities to enhance clinical programs throughout the health system and to engage in collaborative, multidisciplinary care pathways. Teaching opportunities will be available for learners at various levels, including students, integrated and independent pathway Plastic Surgery residents, and fellows pursuing advanced microsurgery training.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive microsurgical reconstruction services, including oncologic, lymphatic, extremity, and general reconstructive procedures.
  • Participate in shared call coverage within the Plastic Surgery Division.
  • Work closely with clinical teams across Surgical Oncology, Breast Surgery, General Surgery, and Orthopedic Surgery.
  • Educate and mentor residents, fellows, and medical students through structured teaching methods.
  • Engage in clinical or basic science research, with support available for both surgeon-scientists and clinically focused faculty.
  • Contribute to the Division's global surgery initiatives through the AMPATH Global Program, if desired.

Clinical Sites
The primary clinical activities will occur at tertiary care centers within our health system, including various hospitals. Outpatient care will be provided through affiliated specialty clinics located in both suburban and urban areas, with access to advanced practice provider support and multidisciplinary services.

Qualifications

  • Must be board-certified or board-eligible in Plastic Surgery.
  • Completion of a Microsurgery Fellowship is mandatory.
  • Proven expertise and enthusiasm for teaching and academic development.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Commitment to fostering inclusive excellence in both clinical and academic settings.

Appointment and Rank
The appointment will be on either a clinical or tenure track, depending on qualifications and academic interests. The academic rank will align with experience and achievements.
