We are seeking Portuguese Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Both Brazilian Portuguese and European Portuguese speakers are encouraged to apply, as USCIS requires coverage across multiple dialects.

Responsibilities

• Provide real-time Portuguese English telephonic interpretation for USCIS interviews, hearings, and immigration proceedings.
• Interpret with accuracy, impartiality, and confidentiality.
• Adhere to USCIS/DHS compliance and professional standards.
• Manage scheduled assignments as well as urgent/surge requests.
• Participate in required training, compliance refreshers, and QA audits.

Qualifications

• Native or near-native fluency in Portuguese (Brazilian or European) and English.
• 2+ years of professional interpreting experience (immigration, legal, government, or medical preferred).
• Familiarity with interpreter ethics and confidentiality standards (NCIHC, ATA, RID).
• Strong telephone communication and cultural competency skills.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 security clearance.
