Purchasing Manager | Coopersville, MI

Salary Range: $77,000 - $117,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategic purchasing plans to optimize cost, quality, and delivery performance.
• Identify, evaluate, and qualify new suppliers while managing and nurturing relationships with existing vendors.
• Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with suppliers to secure favorable agreements and mitigate risks.
• Oversee the procurement of raw materials, components, and MRO supplies essential for manufacturing operations.
• Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality departments to ensure timely material availability and adherence to specifications.
• Monitor market trends, commodity prices, and supply chain risks to inform purchasing decisions and ensure continuity.
• Manage inventory levels effectively to support production schedules while minimizing carrying costs and waste.

Recommended Qualifications

• Proven experience in purchasing/procurement within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
• In-depth knowledge of supply chain management principles and best practices.
• Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems for purchasing functions.
• Excellent leadership and communication abilities.

Bonus Qualifications

• Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification.
• Professional certification such as CSCP, CPIM, or CPSM.
• Experience with international sourcing and logistics.
• Advanced proficiency with ERP/MRP systems, including implementation or optimization experience.
