Purchasing Manager | Mattawan, MI

Salary Range: $86,000 - $126,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement purchasing strategies and policies aligned with production needs.
• Source, evaluate, and select new suppliers while managing existing vendor relationships and performance.
• Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers to achieve cost savings and optimal value.
• Monitor inventory levels and collaborate with production to ensure timely material availability.
• Identify and implement cost reduction initiatives and efficiency improvements in the procurement process.
• Ensure all purchased materials and components meet required quality standards and specifications.
• Manage supply chain risks and develop contingency plans to ensure continuity of supply.

Recommended Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in purchasing or supply chain management within a manufacturing environment.
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
• Demonstrated expertise in strategic sourcing, vendor negotiation, and contract management.
• Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and procurement software.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, quality standards, and inventory control.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills.

Bonus Qualifications

• Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or similar advanced certification.
• Proficiency with SAP Ariba, Oracle Cloud ERP, or other advanced e-procurement platforms.
• Experience applying Lean manufacturing principles or Six Sigma methodologies to supply chain optimization.
• Advanced data analysis skills, including proficiency with tools like Power BI or Tableau.
• Multilingual abilities, particularly relevant for international supplier relations.
