Position Description
This position is responsible for the electrical component specification & design on a custom fire apparatus. The candidate must have a good working knowledge of electrical principals.
This role requires an engineer who can take responsibility for apparatus design including providing support to both the manufacturing & sales departments.
2. Essential Job Functions
2.1 Identify, evaluate, initiate, and drive future technology initiatives in electrical component design
2.2 Creation of electrical schematic drawings consistent with company and industry standards for harness design.
2.3 Development of bills of materials to support product orders.
2.4 Ability to read and interpret 2-dimensional product sales drawings.
2.5 Develop engineering documents in AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
2.6 Maintain & revision control of engineering documentation for customer orders adhering to the company schedule.
2.7 Assist sales and customers with product interpretation.
2.8 Assist manufacturing with troubleshooting issues.
2.9 Ensure internal sales specifications and related engineering bills of material are consistent and accurate.
2.10 Create & calculate electrical load analysis report.
2.11 Ensures all designs comply with guidelines established by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).
2.12 Other duties as assigned.
RequirementsRequirements
3.1 Minimum of 4-year Engineering degree or 5 to 7 years of relevant experience.
3.2 Understanding of CAN bus-based electrical systems & Multiplexing vehicle systems.
3.3 Working Knowledge of SolidWorks 3-D design software & AutoCAD design software.
3.4 Intermediate level computing skills with experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, & Access.
3.5 Good organizational skills with ability to prioritize projects, meet task goals & deadlines.
3.6 Good communications skills, problem-solving ability and the ability to positively influence teams.
3.7 Maintain confidentiality of company information and documents.
4. Valued Skills/Abilities
4.1 Understanding and knowledge of sheet metal design, manufacturing, and fabrication capabilities.
4.2 Understanding of SolidWorks Enterprise Product Data Management software.
4.3 Experience with Parker IQAN mobile controller software
4.4 Knowledge of Cummins Engine Diagnostics and troubleshooting software.
4.5 Strong electro-mechanical aptitude.
4.6 Strong multi-tasking ability. May be working on multiple projects simultaneously.
4.7 Familiarity with computerized quote system or product configurator.
4.8 Comfortable with presentation of facts and ideas to individuals and groups.
4.9 Knowledge of fire apparatus, or related mobile equipment and markets.
4.10 Self-Motivated personality and desire to achieve positive results.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $95,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
