The Speech Language Pathologist provides evaluations and treatment plans for patients with communication, cognition, and swallowing disorders in an inpatient setting. They collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to maximize patient outcomes and participate in discharge planning. The role requires a master's degree, state licensure, and adherence to professional and institutional standards in healthcare delivery.
Description
The speech-language pathologist (SLP) delivers and supervises others in the delivery of services in the areas of communication, cognition and swallowing. Upon physician referral the speech-language pathologist will perform evaluations and develop individual plans of care to maximize functional outcomes, implementing the plans of care, reassessing treatment results, and actively participating in discharge planning. Services are delivered within the framework of a team approach, including all disciplines, the patient and their significant others. Provision of services for pediatric adolescents as well as for both inpatients and outpatients may by required. These services are delivered in compliance with Swedish Medical Center standards, national and professional standards, state practice acts, and current accepted state of the art practice.
