Job Summary : Performs role of Surgical Technologist, with specialty training for Neuro, CVOR, Ophthalmology, Difficult Airway, or Transplant being utilized on a daily basis in an inpatient setting. Staff will take specialty call for these teams as per their specialty experience. Duties as Surgical Technologist include but not limited to: coordinating instrumentation and sterile field needs for the procedure, preparing the surgical field/back table, assisting surgeon at the field during procedure, assisting other operating room staff as needed. Essential Functions All team members are expected to be knowledgeable and compliant with Prisma Health's values: Inspire health. Serve with compassion. Be the difference. Prepares the Operating Room for cases by opening sterile supplies, setting up the back table, and arranging instruments and supplies according to type of case and surgeon's preference card. Assists the surgical team during the operative procedure. Assists in maintaining correct surgical counts, identifies and cares for specimens, handles drugs and solutions under direction of the RN. Maintains sterile field during surgical procedures. Adheres to accepted standards for provision of safe patient care in the surgical environment. Cleans and prepares rooms between procedures and terminally cleans at the end of the day. Models Prisma Health behavior expectations. Assists with coaching, mentoring and training coworkers as assigned. Minimum Requirements Education - Successful completion of a Surgical Technology program or Surgical Technologist training in the U.S. Armed Forces. Experience - No previous experience required. Required Certifications, Registrations, Licenses Surgical Technologist Certification with NBSTSA; or will accept NCCT certification IF employed as a surgical tech in S.C. prior to January 1, 2008 or has completed a surgical tech military training program.
