Job Position Summary Description:
Network Telecommunications Engineer, Technician; provides day to day operations and maintenance support for Cable Landing Station and terrestrial telecommunications network.
Key Responsibilities / Functions:
Troubleshoot and repair terrestrial and submarine DWDM fiber optic telecommunications systems. Monitor and maintain DC power systems, network management computers and associated peripherals. Perform routine maintenance per manufacturer’s recommendations on a variety of facility support equipment. Use standard telecommunications test equipment to isolate and repair problems across multiple networks. Maintain and update physical equipment inventory using the inventory database system. Install, test and terminate fiber jumpers and CAT5 cables.
Required Qualifications: (Education, Technical Skills/Knowledge)
Qualified candidates will possess a 2-year degree in a technical discipline or equivalent work experience with an emphasis on fiber optic transport networks. A minimum of Three years practical and applicable experience. Hands on experience with DWDM transport equipment and associated network management systems required. DC power systems experience along with a general knowledge of facility support equipment. Strong computer skills are a must. Applicant will be required to provide a dependable vehicle for travel between sites when needed. Must be able to use a computer and have experience with Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, Outlook and Adobe acrobat). mechanical and or electrical experience are a plus.
