Description Wallace Montgomery is looking for entry-level Transportation Engineering Technicians to perform a variety of technical engineering support tasks related to construction inspection. Specific duties will depend on job assignment and include the following: Perform field inspections of construction and maintenance projects for the installation/modification of traffic control devices – traffic signals, signage, and lighting. Document daily work activities on an Inspector’s Daily Report. Calculate and document quantities for work completed. Maintain daily photos of work progress. Assist with performing material testing. Inspect maintenance of traffic/work zone traffic control installations. Work will be performed in both office and field settings, with exposure to weather, rough terrain, and active traffic zones. Assignments may require travel across Maryland. Inspectors are required to have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation and must be available to work night shift and weekends as needed. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Valid Maryland driver’s license. Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Access). Strong math and data entry skills. Ability to work outdoors. Excellent communication and teamwork. No prior experience is required – just a willingness to learn and grow. Preferred Skills Construction inspection experience. Knowledge of traffic control device design, construction, and operations. Licenses & Certifications MDOT required certifications in erosion and sediment control, temporary traffic control, OSHA10, traffic barrier, materials testing (asphalt, soils & aggregates, concrete, pavement markings) and IMSA traffic signal inspector Level 1 will be obtained once employed.
